How is food transported in plants?

Q. How is food transported in plants?

Ans. Phloem transports food materials from the leaves to different parts of the plant. The transportation of food in phloem is achieved by utilizing energy from ATP which helps in creating osmotic pressure that transport food from the area of high concentration to low concentration.

The food is transported in plants through phloem in the form of sucrose solution. The glucose is formed during photosynthesis and converted into sucrose and by absorbing the water it form sucrose solution and moved from high concentration to low concentration to the plant body.
